APOLLON workshop culture 2.0 -- Issy-les-Moulineaux
On June 24th the City Hall of Issy-les-Moulineaux hosted the APOLLON workshop ‘Culture 2.0: Can digital technologies bring a new image to Culture?’.
Organized by Issy Média in the framework of Futur en Seine, a French festival for digital life and creativity, the workshop brought together more than seventy participants, among which APOLLON project's e-Participation pilot cities representatives, European Commission representatives, cultural organizations as well as local government and innovative companies representatives.
The event had as theme ‘Culture 2.0: Can digital technologies bring a new image to Culture?’, and studied the impact and role of ICT on Culture, in a web 2.0 era. Through live demonstrations, presentations and debates, the workshop tried to answer the following questions: Can digital technologies bring a new image to Culture? Can they help us have a different look on the historical patrimony of our cities and villages? Can they actually help to better spread knowledge?
The workshop started with a brief presentation of the APOLLON project by Mr Koen de Vos, Operations Manager at the Interdisciplinary Institute for Broadband Technology (IBBT), followed by an insight on the EU objectives through the Apollon project, by EU Commissioner Jean-Pierre Euzen.
After four intense hours during which the audience could discover some of the most innovative initiatives which promote culture and heritage through ICT, Mr André Santini, Former Minister, Member of Parliament and Mayor of Issy-les-Moulineaux closed the session, addressing his thanks to all the participants and speakers, and in particular to Mr Stéphane Distinguin, President of Futur en Seine Festival and vice-president of Cap Digital (French business cluster for Digital Content and Services and organizer of Futur en Seine), for promoting the region’s assets throughout one full week of conferences, exhibitions and debates.
